Khairuddin records statement on quarantine breach

POLICE completed recording Plantation and Commodities Minister Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali’s statement over his Covid-19 quarantine breach at 11.30pm yesterday.

Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department deputy director (investigations and legal) Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the minister arrived at the police headquarters at 8.30pm and finished giving his statement after three hours.

“Along with the minister, police also recorded statements from several other witnesses,” Mior told The Malaysian Insight.

At least 27 police reports were lodged over Khairuddin’s breach nationwide.

The Kuala Nerus MP and PAS minister is under investigation for flouting mandatory quarantine after returning from Turkey on July 7.

Khairuddin paid an RM1,000 fine on August 7 but the Health Ministry said its top officials, including the director-general and infectious disease control head, were not informed of his quarantine breach earlier and only knew of the matter when the media reported it.
