TYCOON Robert Kuok has denied an article shared on Facebook in which he allegedly criticised the government’s economic policies.

His office issued a statement that the Hong Kong-based Malaysian billionaire would “take all necessary steps” against the author known as Luo Zhengkhai.

The statement said the article, which claimed that Kuok was not interested in and had stopped investing in Malaysia as a result of the government’s discriminatory economic policies, had sought to defame Kuok.

It added the comments attributed to him in the article are entirely false and that Kuok was never interviewed by the purported author, nor by any publication using the name “English Star News” or the “Malaysian English Star” as stated in the article.

The statement said Kuok had never claimed that Malaysia’s economic policies were discriminatory towards non-Malays or that Malaysian leaders were corrupt.

“Kuok would like to place on record that he recognises the contributions made by Malaysians of all creed, race and religion towards the development of Malaysia to date and the continued commitment shared by all Malaysians in ensuring a bright future for the country.

“Kuok holds in the highest esteem the leaders of Malaysia who have throughout their lives done everything they can to contribute to the well-being of Malaysians.” – August 28, 2020.
