RESIDENTS of Kg Chubadak Tambahan must invite Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa to stay at their village for a week to experience for himself their poor living condition, said veteran social activist Ishak Surin.
Ishak – a former PAS member – told the villagers today that as a minister Annuar should see for himself the deplorable living condition of this old Malay village near Sentul in Kuala Lumpur.
“Write a letter to him, ask him to come stay for a week, so he knows what it is like living here.
“If we need to do a picket, we do it, as long as he comes and stays here. Look at the condition here. Potholes everywhere. There is no proper drainage or sewerage.
“If it rains for two hours, your houses will be filled with water. How many years have you all been living in this condition? How long more must you wait?” said Ishak in his speech today.
The village, a home to the B40 group, is surrounded by high-rise apartments and condominiums.
Ishak urged the residents to stay united despite their hardship.
“If one family does not get a housing unit, all residents here must not accept any housing units. If one gets it, everyone must get it too.
“We have to stay united. This is a struggle for each and every one of us.
“Justice is meant for everyone, not some for certain quarters.”
Residents are urging developer Sentul Murni Sdn Bhd and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall to come clean with the compensation and census programme.
This comes after they were given low-cost housing units (PPR) instead of apartments that they were promised earlier.
Some residents have yet to get any offers while some received more than one PPR housing units.
They had applied for land certificates from the Selangor government from 1963 to 1972.
Kg Chubadak Tambahan was established in 1963, before the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur was formed.
In 1993, the Umno-led Barisan Nasional government handed the land to Pemaju STLR that was later renamed to Sentul Murni Sdn Bhd. – August 23, 2020.
