A PENANG Umno delegate today urged the authorities to investigate the owners of the The Malaysian Insight news portal for allegedly insulting Umno president Najib Razak and the party leadership.

The delegate, Mohd Nashrol Hisham Abdullah, said he did some checks after the same issue was brought up by a Johor delegate yesterday.

The delegate from Johor, Haliza Abdullah, yesterday had said:  “They continue to attack our prime minister in his personal capacity.

“I hope MCMC and the government take action and check The Malaysian Insight if it is operating within the law,” she had said, referring to the Malaysian Communications And Multimedia Commission.

Haliza was later quoted by TV3 as saying that Putrajaya had to be more sensitive when faced with attacks from the portal.

Earlier today, Nashrol told Umno members that these attacks must not be allowed to continue.

However, both Haliza and Nashrol did not specify what articles were insulting to the prime minister or party leadership.

Furthermore, there have been no complaints ever made to The Malaysian Insight on these allegations.

“Do not let this happen. The authorities must find this person. If someone insults the president we have to be angry. We have to find who is this person behind The Malaysian Insight,” Nashrol said this morning.

Citing documents from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM), Nashrol said The Malaysian Insight was owned by Faridah Begum.

Faridah is the sister of Jahabar Sadiq, the editor/managing director of The Malaysian Insight and also the wife of Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali.

“We, the delegates want her. Investigate who (is she). Who is Faridah Begum,” he said. – December 9, 2017.
