UMNO delegates were today told not to “burn” the party simply because they do not like a leader, in reference to president Najib Razak.
Kelantan delegate Amran Ariffin said they must be tolerant as humans were not perfect, and it was the same with Umno.
“
“So, do not ‘burn’ the party simply because you do not like a leader. We have to think big,” Amran said while debating on religion and education.
He urged party members to help Najib and the leadership because Umno was for Malays and Muslims.
Amran said Umno existed to uphold Islam, Malay rulers, and the rights and privileges of Malays.
This, he said, ran contrary to what the opposition stood for, adding that the opposition was born out of anger and frustration.
“Sacked, formed a new party, frustrated at not getting projects. So, they are upset with us.”
However, he pointed out that Umno could be defeated by the opposition if members did not perform even though they were on the right track. – December 9, 2017.
