WARISAN chairman Liew Vui Keong said the candidates for the next Sabah election should declare their assets and sources of income to their party presidents.

Liew, who is also Batu Sapi MP, said the move would ensure that no candidates are involved in wrongdoing or abuse of power.

“It is a good policy for potential candidates to declare their assets to their respective party presidents,” he said after opening the annual general meeting for the Wanita, Wira and Wirawati wings of the Lahad Datu Warisan division in Lahad Datu today.

Liew said normally, the declaration of assets and sources of income is done after the candidate wins the election or becomes a cabinet member.

Meanwhile, Liew also expressed his intention to bring the issue up in the Dewan Rakyat to encourage all MPs without cabinet posts to also declare their assets. – Bernama, August 15, 2020.
