POLICE will not tolerate any form of gangsterism, including the intimidation of whistleblowers.

Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said it was unacceptable that Hot Burger Malaysia owner Mohd Asri Hamid had been threatened over his exposure of illegal gambling in Sungai Buloh.

“I cannot accept the acts of gangsterism against Mohd Asri or anyone who share information on criminal activities (with the authorities).

“Arrests have been made, and they do not involved just one particular race, but also others,” he told reporters today.

Asri was reported to have been threatened by a “Godfather” who was unhappy about Asri’s revelations.

Meanwhile, Hamid said police would soon announce the replacement for his deputy, Mazlan Mansor, who was retiring this month

Mazlan joined the force in 1979 with the rank of inspector. He was appointed deputy IGP in May last year. – Bernama, August 12, 2020.
