KARAOKE centres in Sarawak will be able to reopen from August 15, provided they had private rooms on the premises, having been given the green light by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.

Outlets without private rooms will have to wait for approval, according to state officials.

The state disaster management committee reported no new infections today, for the sixth straight day.

Meanwhile, the police reported that 78 motorists tried to get through roadblocks on the Pan Borneo Highway to restrict access to Kuching, Samarahan and Serian, which are officially designated as Zone 1 (yellow or red zones).

The disaster management committee said yesterday the 78 vehicles were turned back at the roadblock because they did not have the required police permit.

They were among 1,268 vehicles that approached the roadblocks, the remainder being allowed to pass. – August 6, 2020.
