FORMER Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir failed to gain the trust of the people, said Umno Kedah delegate Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin at the Umno General Assembly in PWTC today.

He said that was the feedback he received from the people.

He added Bashah Md Hanipah is a smarter and better menteri besar.

He also said Kedah Umno should stop respecting Dr Mahathir Mohamad for what he did for the party.

“In Kedah, many talked about his legacy. He gave us pleasure but we should stop respecting Dr Mahathir. 

“We have to put the people’s need first and not individualistic or family oriented sentiment,” he said.

“What important is the fate of the Malays. Enough of being nostalgic. Why do we want to talk about things that will only hurt us.” 

Dr Mahathir founded Parti Bersatu Pribumi Malaysia (Bersatu) a year ago with former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and Mukhriz.

There are talks Mukhriz will take charge of the Bersatu campaign for the coming general elections.

Mukhriz was asked to step down as menteri besar for criticising Najib Razak administration’s stance on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal. – December 7, 2017.
