MORE than 100 students of Mahaad Integrasi Tahfiz Selangor in Kuala Langat, Banting, have been evacuated after their hostel caught fire early today.

State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Hafisham Mohd Noor, in a statement, said 27 firefighters from the Banting, Telok Panglima Garang, KLIA, Port Klang and Section 7 stations were deployed after a distress call came in at 5.49am.

“We managed to evacuate all 131 students, and the blaze was brought under control at 6.24am.”

The fire, which broke out on the third floor of the girls’ hostel, caused 40% damage to the building.

The cause of the blaze and amount in losses are being investigated. – Bernama, August 4, 2020.
