PARTI Warisan Sabah and its partners in Pakatan Harapan (PH) have failed to deliver on their election promises after taking over the state in 2018, said Sabah Umno chairman Bung Moktar Radin.

Bung Moktar, who is Kinabatangan MP, said the collapse of the Warisan-led Sabah government as well as PH at the federal level was due to them not delivering their election manifestos.

“PH and Warisan did not deliver their promises and that was why they were ousted.

“We, on the other hand, will make sure that our promises will be completed. We will lift the economy of Sabah, we will make sure the youth will be heard.”

On Thursday, Sabah Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal announced the dissolution of the state assembly, paving the way for a state election to be held within 60 days.

He made the announcement just hours after former chief minister Musa Aman claimed that the opposition bloc had secured a simple majority to form a new state government.

Bung Moktar today said Umno is currently identifying winnable candidates for the party.

“We will submit the names of winnable candidates and we are in the midst of identifying them,” he said when asked if Umno has its candidates.

Bung Moktar is among those standing in the state election after announcing last night he will contest in Lamag, one of the 13 new seats in Sabah.

In the 2018 general election, 60 seats were contested in Sabah.

In July last year, the Dewan Rakyat approved a bill to increase the number of seats in the state assembly to 73.

Sabah Election Commission director Rohiman Rahia confirmed that 73 seats would be contested in the coming state election.

The 13 new seats are N02 Bengkoka, N06 Bandau, N08 Pintasan, N13 Pantai Dalit, N17 Darau, N24 Tanjung Keramat, N27 Limbahau, N44 Tulid, N47 Telupid, N51 Sg Manila, N58 Lamag, N61 Segama and N70 Kukusan. – August 2, 2020.
