INVESTORS are again showing confidence in Malaysia after the nation moved away from the prime ministerial succession plan fiasco under the previous Pakatan Harapan administration, said Mohamed Azmin Ali.
The international trade and industry minister said the new Perikatan Nasional government, under Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, managed to convince the investors by focusing on the economy.
“The current administration is giving serious focus on the economy and people’s security.
“We do not just talk politics. Under the previous government, everyday, the talk was about who should be the prime minister, to the point it caused confusion among investors.
“For the past six months, investor confidence has returned as they are seeing Muhyiddin’s focus on economic matters,” he told reporters after a programme in Lunas, Kedah.
He also said the continuous fight over the prime minister’s position under PH also forced the change in government.
Azmin, who was also part of the PH government, played a role in the fall of the pact in February when he and his followers left PKR and threw their support behind Muhyiddin and Bersatu.
They were joined by Umno, PAS, Sarawak’s ruling pact Gabungan Parti Sarawak and other parties from Sabah to form the federal government under the PN banner.
Prior to that, PH was involved in an ongoing tussle as to when Dr Mahathir Mohamad was to have given way for PKR president Anwar Ibrahim to become the prime minister. – August 2, 2020.
