Noor Hisham reports 3 more new Covid-19 cases than recoveries

MALAYSIA continued to record more new Covid-19 cases than recoveries today with eight new cases reported compared to five sent home from hospital.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the additional cases brought the number of active cases to 223, adding the national cumulative total was 8,964.

He said 8,617 people had recovered from Covid-19, including the five people discharged today.

Malaysia has now gone 14 consecutive days with more new cases reported than recoveries.

Noor Hisham said that, of the new cases, three were imported and five were locally transmitted, all of the latter were Malaysians.

“One case was detected in Kuala Lumpur, one in Johor and three cases in Sabah,” he said at a press conference today.

Three patients are in intensive care and another requires respiratory support.

No deaths were reported, keeping the number of fatalities at 124 or 1.38% of all cases. – July 30, 2020.
