AHMAD Zahid Hamidi continued with his cryptic remarks a day after Najib Razak was convicted of graft by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

In a brief Facebook post, the Umno president appeared to hint that all was not well with the party and the ruling coalition.

“Sincerity and honesty are the main principles in an agreement, whether it is sharing a life or sharing power.

“When sincerity and honesty are cast aside, any agreement must be re-evaluated,” he said without naming any party.

The post was accompanied with the hashtag #UMNObangkit.

Yesterday, after the verdict to jail Najib for 12 years and fine him RM 210 million over the SRC International case, Zahid said the party had to “do something”.

He said Umno respects the court’s decision to convict Najib and will be discussing the party’s direction as a result.

“I am sad and I sympathise because he is my friend, but he told me that this is not the end of the world.

“Therefore, Umno will have to do something, wait for our decision, which we have to discuss first.

“What we plan to do will be part of efforts to steer the direction of the present government,”   Zahid told reporters outside the Kuala Lumpur High Court after Najib’s guilty verdict was delivered yesterday – July 29, 2020.

  • His comments are despicable. He is insulting our judiciary insinuating that the executive could or should have influenced the najib trial outcome. What kind of president does UMNO have? The party deserves better leadership

  • This is a blatant intention of abuse of power and legalize corruption if he is running the government. Umno will never to earn back their integrity and honesty if such quality of leaders remain. Indeed they will do anything by abusing power to cover their wrong......sigh
