TWO senior PAS leaders have been dropped in a reshuffle of the party’s working committee today.

Selangor housing exco Iskandar Samad and long-time elections director Mustafa Ali, who are said to favour working with other opposition parties, were axed. Iskandar was retained as the vice-president during the party polls last weekend.

Iskandar was replaced by Sallehan Mukhyi as the new Selangor chief while Mustafa will be replaced by party president Abdul Hadi Awang’s former political secretary Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

Temerloh MP Nasrudin Hassan was retained as the information chief while Razman Zakaria will replace Mohd Nor Mohamad as treasurer.

The announcement was made by general secretary Takiyuddin Hassan after PAS’ central committee meeting today.

Asked why Iskandar was dropped, Takiyuddin said the vice-president’s position is more senior than a state chief.

“Sallehan will be able to focus on Selangor better as he’s not an exco,” said Takiyuddin, who is also Kota Baru MP.

Mustafa was seen as one of few PAS senior leaders constantly in touch with Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali.

PAS also moved ulama Husin Awang to lead Terengganu instead of Satiful Bahri Mamat. – May 6, 2017.
