TWO Covid-19 clusters with three patients were detected over the last 24 hours, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
In a statement, the director-general of health said the first cluster in Taman Bukit Tiram, Johor, involved two foreign workers at a religious centre.
He said 10 close contacts have been identified and are awaiting test results.
Both foreigners in Taman Bukit Tiram had first show Covid-19 symptoms on July 15 but did not seek immediate treatment at any health facility.
However, he said they were confirmed positive when they were screened on July 24 at a government facility.
Noor Hisham said the Kuching construction company cluster was identified when one positive case was detected from repeated screening of close contacts of case-8715.
Since then, 55 close contacts comprising five housemates and 50 work colleagues have been tested. All results were negative.
Active case tracking activity of this cluster is still ongoing.
The cause of the infection at both clusters is still unknown.
Over the last week the spike in cases has also seen several new clusters emerge.
The hardest hit appears to be in Kuching at the Sentosa Hospital on the outskirts of the Sarawak capital, which was forced into lockdown yesterday after eight more of its staff members were found to be infected with Covid-19.
The new cases take the total number of workers infected at the hospital to 16.
The 16 cases have been transferred to the Sarawak General Hospital to be placed in isolation and treatment. β July 25, 2020.
