Covid-19 cases rise with emergence of 2 new clusters

MALAYSIA today reported 23 new coronavirus cases and the identification of new two clusters.

This takes the number of active cases to 167, among a total 8,884 cases, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement.

At the same time, 17 patients were discharged from hospital, taking the number of recoveries to 8,594.

The death toll stands at 123 with no new deaths reported in the last 24 hours

Of the 23 new cases, six were imported, Noor Hisham said. Seven foreigners were among the remaining 17 cases of local transmission. 

The six patients with imported infections are from Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Russia.

Meanwhile, two new clusters were detected in Bukit Tiram, Johor and Kuching, Sarawak.

Of the 167 active cases, three are in intensive care, two of whom require respiratory aid.– July 25, 2020.
