SINGER Sheila Majid came under fire today, from an aide of Rosmah Mansor, for her Twitter lament yesterday on the state of the country.
Rizal Mansor, who is an aide to the prime minister’s wife, questioned how it was that tickets for the jazz queen’s concert in August which were priced at RM888 were snapped up despite her complaint of the high cost of living.
“Yes, you are a national jazz queen and considered a legend by fans, but how could they afford to buy the concert tickets priced up to RM888 if the country’s economy is really so bad.
He said, as a veteran artiste with vast experience and influence, Sheila should understand that many issues concerning the economy are out of the control of the government due to external factors, which has caused the value of the ringgit to depreciate and made it more challenging to create job opportunities.
Rizal’s reprimand came two days after he told off popular TV actress Nur Fathia Latiff for questioning Putrajaya’s rationale in investigating Bank Negara Malaysia’s forex losses in the 1990s while ignoring the scandal surrounding state investor 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
On Monday, Rizal chided Nur Fathia for questioning plans to charge Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad over BNM’s forex losses after the release of the Royal Commission of Inquiry report on the scandal which happened 30 years ago.
“Get your facts right, and write when you are in the right state of mind,” Rizal had said during his speech at the launch of the Artiste and Celebrity Chamber of Commerce, he had said, referring to Nur Fathia’s attempt to highlight Putrajaya’s inconsistency in investigating the forex losses but not 1MDB.
After Nur Fathia, Rizal has now accused Sheila of being a “propaganda tool for the opposition” for taking to Twitter to vent her political dissatisfaction yesterday.
In a country where artistes usually avoid commenting on politics, Sheila had taken to Twitter to vent her political dissatisfaction.
“Food is expensive, ringgit is weak, cost of living is high and jobs are scarce. Msians are becoming tired & angry for being squeezed over debts we did not create.
“Stop making excuses & looking for faults. Focus on the job of getting our country back on track! [An icon of the Malaysian flag] Disappointing!!”
The tweet was retweeted more than 18,000 times. It also attracted more than 11,000 likes and 380 comments.
Rizal said Najib has been working hard to bring in investments to create job opportunities, strengthen the ringgit and relieve the people’s high cost of living through initiatives like the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M).
He said the jazz queen should be grateful to Barisan Nasional for its hard work which enabled her to live a comfortable and luxurious life receiving offers to perform at corporate dinners. – December 6, 2017.

The manner in which Rizal, Annuar Musa, Irwan Serigar, Freddie Fernandez, and other goons have gone after her, shows that UMNO/BN is shaking in the boots. They are petrified by this diminutive singer who has spoken up for the common people of Malaysia.
These goons take the public to be fools by talking about the cost of her concert tickets. Why not talk about the fact that Sheila has also done charity concerts. I suppose UMNO/BN goons didn’t google that.
Why talk about the cost of living versus the cost of lifestyle, when the cost of living has already curbed lifestyle?
Why say that Sheila needs to be grateful to BN for her various corporate dinners? Unlike these village idiots, Sheila is an international star and can perform anywhere on the planet.
Malaysian voters do not owe these village idiots a living. Time for them to go!
