CONTROVERSIAL Umno leader Jamal Md Yunos burned two effigies of former minister Zaid Ibrahim today for allegedly insulting the sultan of Selangor.

Jamal, who is Sungai Besar Umno division chief, said Zaid, who is now a DAP member after exiting PKR and his own party KITA, had forgotten how to respect the sultan as taught by Umno.

“He had enjoyed numerous benefits when he was an Umno minister.

“Today, however, he has become disrespectful towards our sultan, the Selangor sultan,” Jamal, who is also the Red Shirts leader, told reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre today.

Throughout the press conference, Jamal held up two cardboard cutouts with Zaid’s likeness emblazoned with the words ‘traitor, insolent, rude (pengkhianat, kurang ajar, biadap)’.

He then handed them over to several youth, who set them on fire at the side of the road.

Earlier in the morning, Jamal lodged a report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters alleging that Zaid through his Twitter account had questioned the decree of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who had criticised former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad regarding his remarks on the Bugis community.

Umno Selangor had also earlier announced that they would hold the ‘Himpunan Rakyat Daulat Tuanku’ to defend Sultan Shafaruddin and criticise Pakatan Harapan’s failure to defend the royal institutions. – December 6, 2017.
