THERE are no plans for the time being to limit the number of visitors at Hari Raya Aidiladha gatherings, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

However, said the senior minister, the government may impose restrictions should Covid-19 cases continue to rise.

“As of now, it stays. No plans to limit the number of people for Raya.

“However, if things change, for example, (cases increase) tonight, we may have to change our policy,” he told reporters in the Parliament building.

He reminded people to wear masks when heading back to their hometowns and during the celebrations next week.

“Remember to always take care of yourselves. Wear masks even before August 1.”

Earlier, Ismail Sabri announced that Putrajaya has made it compulsory to wear masks in public places starting next month.

“From August 1, wearing masks in public places that are crowded and when taking public transport is compulsory.”

Those who do not comply with the rule can be compounded RM1,000 under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

The decision, made at a National Security Council meeting today, follows a spike in infections in recent days. – July 23, 2020.
