YANG di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today decreed that Malaysians must not be complacent when it comes to observing standard operating procedures designed to stem Covid-19.

Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, in a statement, said the king expressed concern about the increase in new coronavirus cases and detection of fresh clusters.

“Sultan Abdullah urges the people not to lose focus, and to always be disciplined and comply with the SOPs, including quarantine orders.

“His Majesty also reminds the people of the success achieved by the government, Health Ministry and relevant agencies, and especially frontliners, in curbing the spread of Covid-19.

“These efforts will not mean a thing if the country suffers a second wave and the movement-control order is reimposed. It will not only affect the people’s health, safety and well-being, but also the national economy.”

Fadil said the king is worried about a possible surge in dengue cases, too.

“His Majesty wants the people to continue taking preventive measures as advised by the Health Ministry and relevant authorities, to ensure that their houses and surrounding areas are free from Aedes mosquito breeding grounds.

“Sultan Abdullah advises the people to use mosquito repellent and aerosol sprays, and to immediately seek treatment if they show symptoms of dengue fever.”
