THE Malacca government has identified a new site for a Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) station, which was previously planned for Ayer Keroh.

State Public Works, Transport, Public Amenities and Infrastructure Committee chairman Roslan Ahmad said it will be located near Green City, between the Alor Gajah sub-district of Durian Tunggal and Ayer Panas in Jasin.

He said the alignment revision avoids high-density places and major land reclamation involving high-value areas, thus, reducing the project’s cost.

“HSR2.0 in Malacca involves a 60km track, and we’re made to understand that Malaysia and Singapore have agreed to extend the discussion period to December 31,” he told reporters after today’s state assembly sitting, during which Zaidi Attan (BN-Serkam) asked about the project.

Roslan said under the “new version” of HSR, the number of stations is reduced from seven to five, and their design is standardised.

“I can’t disclose the amount allocated at this time because it is based on the acquisition method, that is, a competitive tender.” – Bernama, July 22, 2020.
