JOHOR police arrested four men this morning over an incident in front of a mosque in Austin Perdana, Johor Baru, during Friday prayers.

The Star reported today that Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Kamarulzaman Mamat said the men, aged between 21 and 55, were picked at 1am in front of the mosque.

The police added that the case is being investigated for rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code.

The police also warned the public against speculating about the incident.

In a statement, Kamarulzaman said police would handle the incident.

“We have met with all the parties involved in the incident, including mosque representatives.

“They have come to an agreement and have handed over the investigations for the police to handle. The parties also don’t want to hear of any speculation or interference in the case.”

Earlier yesterday, two videos of the incident went viral.

The altercation occurred when a man in a white car honked repeatedly outside the mosque when he got stuck in a traffic jam, angering those who were attending the prayers.

Police said several people then damaged his car and roughed him up.

The police also urged the public not to spread the videos on social media. – May 6, 2017.
