A JOHOR old folks’ home identified as a Covid-19 cluster has been placed under an administrative lockdown, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The senior minister said such a lockdown allows employees to move in and out of the facility.

“We have not enforced the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO), but we have imposed an administrative lockdown on the centre,” he told a press conference today.

The Health Ministry yesterday said 14 infections have been detected at the facility in Kluang following the death of a resident last week.

A total of 39 people were screened, of whom 14 tested positive and 18, negative. The remaining seven are awaiting their results.

Ismail Sabri said the administrative lockdown will allow staff who live off the premises to continue coming to work, adding that they will be subjected to swab tests.

“The usual procedures will be followed, whereby swab tests will be conducted at the centre.

“If we declare the EMCO, employees who live elsewhere won’t be able to enter.”

He added that no visitors are allowed for 14 days. – July 21, 2020.
