MALAYSIA has reported another four coronavirus cases, all of them imported, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The director-general of health said no Covid-19 fatality was recorded over the last 24 hours, keeping the death toll at 122.

“The new cases raise the total number of infections nationwide to 8,729, with 83 of them active cases,” he told a press conference in Putrajaya.

He said four more patients have been discharged, taking total recoveries to 8,524, or 97.65% of overall cases.

Six patients are in intensive care, with none requiring respiratory support, he said.

On the fresh cases, Dr Noor Hisham said three are Malaysians and the other a Russian, who holds a special permit to enter the country for work.

The Russian patient, whose gender is not disclosed, arrived in Malaysia yesterday and tested positive on the RTK-Antigen test. They have been taken to Sg Buloh Hospital.

Investigations showed that the patient had been in close contact with two people, who have since tested positive for the virus, in the Russian city of Novgorod.

The Health Ministry has identified 22 patients in the Novgorod cluster. Three are at Sg Buloh Hospital and two at Malacca Hospital, where one is in intensive care. – July 14, 2020.
