FUGITIVE Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, the former chief executive officer of SRC International, is currently residing in Hong Kong, said Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador.

Hamid said Nik Faisal travelled to Hong Kong with his wife and son, from Jakarta, Indonesia.

“Nik Faisal is in Hong Kong with his wife and son. This is the latest information we have. We already contacted our counterparts in Hong Kong but, maybe the media can ask Hong Kong police what the status is,” he said.

Nik Faisal fled the country on May 7, 2018, two days before the 14th general election, which saw Barisan Nasional (BN) being ousted from Putrajaya.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had recorded Nik Faisal’s statement twice in 2015.

He is wanted over a graft probe involving former prime minister Najib Razak and state fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

On another fugitive, Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low, Hamid said the Penang-born businessman has been traced at several locations, including Thailand, Macau and Hong Kong.

“I will not slow down efforts to catch him. As long as I am the IGP, I will continue to hunt him down.”

In August last year, Malaysian police filed charges against Jho Low and his father, Larry, under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001 over funds purportedly stolen from 1MDB.

Jho Low was slapped with eight counts of money laundering, involving US$443 million (RM1.8 billion). – July 10, 2020.
