THE Registrar of Societies said it has yet to receive any application from Azmin Ali to form a political party, days after The Malaysian Insight reported that the politician’s supporters had filed papers to set up an organisation.

“Based on the records, RoS denies having received any application to form a political party as stated by the sources in the news report.

“The statement from the sources is slanderous and not true at all,” RoS said in a statement today.

RoS said the report damaged the good name of the agency, and would not hesitate to take any legal action if necessary.

The Malaysian Insight reported last week that Azmin was trying to register a multiracial party but was blocked by RoS.

Another source told TMI the party structure was already in place, and that Azmin had set up a youth movement as a support base for the party.

The new youth entity is called Pemuda Negara, led by Azmin’s closest allies – his political secretary Hilman Idham and Seberang Jaya assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin.

Sources also told TMI Pemuda Negara has appointed state coordinators comprising former PKR leaders as well as Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force chairman R. Sri Sanjeevan.

It has also appointed 222 coordinators to oversee each parliamentary constituency. – July 6, 2020.
