TASEK Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya has been made a deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in a portfolio change following the resignation of Shahruddin Md Salleh as deputy works minister.

Shabudin replaces Eddin Syazlee Shith, who has been appointed deputy works minister, said the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement.

Shahbudin will oversee the Parliament and laws portfolio.

PMO said both Shahbudin and Eddin Syazlee will take their oaths of office and secrecy before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong today.

Bersatu member Shahruddin resigned as deputy minister on June 4, expressing regret at having joined Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s Perikatan Nasional government.

The Sri Gading MP has said he will remain a government backbencher.

Shahbudin won Tasek Gelugor on an Umno-Barisan Nasional ticket in the 2018 general election, but later joined Bersatu.

Eddin Syazlee, meanwhile, is part of Muhyiddin’s camp in Bersatu. – July 6, 2020.
