TM, Huawei team up on Cloud Alpha services

TELEKOM Malaysia Bhd (TM), in collaboration with Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd, has introduced TM ONE Cloud a, or Cloud Alpha, services, covering cloud operations and infrastructure, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

TM group chief executive Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin said the services will enable Malaysian companies and the public sector to obtain an extensive suite of cloud computing services beginning October.

“The partnership with Huawei Technologies will enable TM to accelerate digital services and solutions for the nation, striding forward as the only Malaysian-owned end-to-end cloud infrastructure service provider.

“With this partnership, we will be able to offer our customers a whole suite of cloud services, spanning IaaS (infrastructure as a service), PaaS (platform as a service) and SaaS (software as a service),” he said at the signing of a memorandum of agreement between the two firms in Kuala Lumpur today.

The MoA was signed by TM ONE executive vice-president and chief executive Ahmad Taufek Omar and vice-president (sales) Mohd Roslan Mohd Rashidi, and Huawei Malaysia vice-president (carrier network business group) Zac Chow and vice-president (cloud and AI) Lim Chee Siong, witnessed by Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin.

Noor Kamarul said the services cover industry solutions, enterprise applications, big data and internet-of-things solutions, among others.

Huawei Malaysia chief executive Michael Yuan said the company will play a more proactive role in developing and providing the infrastructure needed to realise the government’s industry transformation aspirations.

Zahidi, in his speech, said the TM-Huawei initiative supports Putrajaya’s digital economy goals.

“Malaysia will focus on economic growth, towards reaping the full benefits of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Therefore, today’s MoA is a step in the right direction.” – Bernama, July 3, 2020.
