EDUCATION Ministry will introduce three operating models to ensure social distancing when schools reopens on July 15.

Minister Mohd Radzi Md Jidin said the schools will be allowed to pick from one of the three models and have been given a week to decide.

“The ministry has identified three operating models which can be used as a guide by school administrators, according to their respective suitability and situation,” he said in a press conference today.

The first model will be a single session system for schools that have enough space or classrooms to accommodate all pupils.

The second will be a dual session operating system, which will accommodate more students and the third model is a rotational system for densely packed schools.

“The third model is used for schools who do not have space even when they are implanting a dual session system. Most of these schools are located in densely populated areas,” Radzi said.

The rotational model for secondary schools will see Form 5 and 6 students attending daily but for Form 1 to 5, they will take turns to use the school facility.

On June 24, more than 500,000 Form Five, Form Six, Sijil Vokasional Malaysia and Sijil Tinggi Agama students nationwide returned to school after more than three months at home due to the movement control order introduced on March 18. – July 1, 2020.
