THEME parks due to reopen have been told to limit the number of visitors at any one time, said Director-General of Health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

According to Noor Hisham, Putrajaya’s approval to allow theme parks to reopen does not mean they can operate at full capacity.

“The Health Ministry’s concern is that if there are gatherings or congestion when these parks are open, but now it is fixed that we limit the visitors to these theme parks.

“We expect people who go to these theme parks to ensure that they practise social distancing,” he said today at the ministry’s Covid-19 press briefing in Putrajaya.

Earlier today, Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government is allowing 54 theme parks nationwide to reopen from July 1.

However, he said that theme park operators must adhere to strict standard operating procedures, such as social distancing, and numbers of visitors depend on the capacity of the theme park.

Visitors must also use the MySejahtera application upon entering.

Noor Hisham advised operators to frequently clean water-based attractions at theme parks.

He said it is common for chlorine to be used in pools, but now, cleaning works must be conducted more often.

“They use chlorine and so on. That is not a new thing.

“However, we advise them to further improve cleaning.”
