3 new Covid-19 cases, 16 recoveries today

MALAYSIA got back to single digits with three new Covid-19 cases reported as of noon today, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. 

These new infections take the total number of cases to 8,637. 

He said all three involved Malaysians, with one imported and the other two local transmissions. 

“Of the two local transmissions, one case in Selangor was detected during pre-procedure screening for treatment of blood cancer and the other case is in a market in Sandakan, Sabah, where the case was detected during workplace screening,” Noor Hisham said at a press conference in Putrajaya today.  

He also said a total of 16 patients have recovered and discharged, bringing the number of recoveries to 8,334 or 96.5% of all cases.  

The number of active cases now stands at 182. 

Four patients are in intensive care units, with one requiring respiratory support. 

The death toll remains 121, or 1.4% of all cases. – June 29, 2020.
