6 new virus cases, 45 recoveries

Only six new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the past 24 hours, while 45 patients have recovered. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Afif Abd Halim, June 24, 2020.

MALAYSIA continued to report a single digit growth in Covid-19 cases with six new infections reported as of noon today, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The director-general of health said this brings the national tally of infection to 8,596.

Noor Hisham said two of the six cases were imported while four were locally transmitted. 

He said all four locally transmitted cases involved Malaysians, where three of the cases were detected in Selangor. 

Noor Hisham said the Hulu Langat condominium cluster and Bukit Bintang cluster each reported one case, while another case involved a Tahfiz student in Sabak Bernam. 

The fourth case was discovered at a construction site in Sarawak. 

Meanwhile, he said, 45 people have recovered from Covid-19 and have been discharged from hospital as of noon today.

Noor Hisham said this brings the total number of recoveries to 8,231.

Active cases, on the other hand, stand at 244, while two patients are being treated in the intensive care unit.

He said no fatalities were reported, keeping the death toll at 121. – June 24, 2020.
