PENANG assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin has quit PKR to join Bersatu after the state government announced that the Seberang Jaya lawmaker was no longer part of the administration.
Afif, a Mohamed Azmin Ali supporter, has resigned from the party after he was suspended from PKR in April.
“The Pakatan Harapan state government has put me as the opposition and I will sit as one of the Bersatu assemblymen in the Penang state assembly,” Afif told The Malaysian Insight today.
“I will continue to serve my constituents although state allocation was cut last month.”
Meanwhile, The Star reported that Afif met Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to announce his move.
Afif is among 285 PKR members who have been suspended since Azmin left the party with 10 other MPs in February. – June 24, 2020.
