MALAYSIA today saw three new coronavirus cases – the lowest since a record low of two on June 10, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

In a statement, the director-general of health said the death toll remains at 121.

“Today’s new cases raised the total number of infected patients nationwide so far to 8,590, with 283 active cases.

“Nine patients were discharged today, bringing the total number of patients discharged so far to 8,186, or 95.3% of total cases,” he said in the statement.

He said three patients are in intensive care but none of them require respiratory support.

All the new cases are local transmissions.

One case – a foreigner – was reported in Negri Sembilan, from the Pedas cluster, which originated from a chicken factory worker.

The two other cases were in Sabah. Both are linked to a 96-year-old patient who died at home last week in Kota Kinabal. The two new cases, one of which is a foreigner, are family members of the deceased. – June 23, 2020.
