MTUC lodges report against limo company over EPF, Socso contributions

SIX employees from a limousine and tourism services company have lodged police reports against their employer for failing to remit payments to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Socso.

The reports were lodged at the Jalan Travers police station by Malaysian Trade Unions Congress (MTUC) secretary-general J. Solomon on behalf of the workers.

“Deductions had already been made from the employees’ wages but they were not remitted to the two agencies,” Solomon told reporters at the police station.

The employees were terminated without any official letters after they complained about the issue to the company’s management in January.

Solomon said MTUC is concerned that the Labour Department has not done anything for the terminated employees.

He said the department told the employees it is still investigating the issue.

“But how can the investigation take up to five months?”

He said the employees had submitted proof to the Labour Department about the employer, who has now started a new company. – June 22, 2020.

  • One must seriously consider if the Limo company in any way settled the issue with the Labour Department. After all 5 months is an awfully long time for a simple investigation.
