SWIMMING activities in public pools, beaches, rivers and lakes will be allowed to resume from July 1, senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.
However the government does not encourage children’s participation in such water activities.
“For swimming activities at condominiums or hotels, in gated communities or private pools, there must be a lifeguard. Not just safety purposes but for time keeping.
“We do not encourage children although we agreed in principle that there is no ban on children.
“Parents must play a role in keeping their children safe and we leave it to the hotels and condominiums’ management to decide whether they allow children or not,” Ismail Sabri said during his press conference today.
Last Thursday, the government allowed swim and dive athletes to train.
“We have decided to allow swim and dive athletes to train, but there must be no physical contact.”
“There will be a limit on capacity (in pools), and the SOPs include social distancing, the use of the MySejahtera app and leaving the swimming complex as soon as possible.
Under the recovery movement control order, which took effect earlier this month, jogging, badminton and solo martial arts practice are allowed to continue.
The government has also lifted the interstate travel ban and given the nod to domestic tourism. – June 22, 2020.
