A NEW Covid-19 cluster has been discovered in Kidurong, Sarawak, where six people, including four from a family, tested positive for the coronavirus, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said the index case of the cluster was a university student who tested positive on June 12.
Noor Hisham said active case tracking found that his family members were also infected.
“The mother, father and two siblings tested positive.
“One of the father’s friends was also tested positive, making it a new cluster in Kidurong,” Noor Hisham said at a briefing today.
He said 231 people have been identified as close contacts and 163 people have undergone screening so far. All were tested negative.
Noor Hisham said the cause of infection is still under investigation.
