70 Covid-19 recoveries, 6 new cases, no deaths

MALAYSIA continued to bring down the number of active Covid-19 cases to 344, with 70 additional recoveries as of noon today, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Six new cases were recorded, but no deaths, the director-general of health added. 

Today is also the 13th consecutive day recoveries outnumber new infections. 

The total number of recoveries now stands at 8,070, or 94.6% of the total number of cases. 

Noor Hisham said of the six new cases, two were imported, with one being a Malaysian and and the other a foreigner with permanent residency status.  

All four local transmissions involved Malaysians. 

“Of the local transmissions, one case was reported in a tahfiz school in Kuala Lumpur during screening, one in Selangor due to close contact with a family member, one in Negri Sembilan found during screening and one in Sarawak,” he said at his daily health briefing in Putrajaya. 

The total number of total infections stands at 8,535. 

The death toll remains at 121, or 2.42% of the total number of cases.  

Three patients are currently being treated in the intensive care units. – June 19, 2020.
