EMPLOYERS can now conduct face-to-face interviews, said senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the government gave the nod after a special meeting was held on Monday to discuss the matter.

“In a special meeting held on Monday, we agreed to allow the ministries and government agencies to conduct face-to-face interviews.

“This applies for private sectors as well,” the defence minister said in a press briefing on the Covid-19 response, in Putrajaya.

Ismail Sabri said that the Public Services Commission of Malaysia (SPA) will prepare the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the Health Ministry (MOH) and National Security Council (MKN) will review it for approval.

“The SPA will provide SOPs relating to face-to-face interview processes and it will then be reviewed by MOH and MKN for approval.

“When we pass this SOP, it will be passed on as a reference to everyone,” he said.

Last month, Ismail Sabri urged employers who were hiring to conduct online job interviews during the conditional movement-control order period. – June 17, 2020.
