PERMODALAN Nasional Bhd (PNB) chief executive officer Jalil Rasheed has resigned from his post, reported Focus Malaysia.

The report, quoting sources, said the youngest CEO to be appointed to PNB had tendered his resignation and an official announcement is expected soon.

The report added that the resignation will be deliberated by the board today.

Meanwhile, Credit Suisse Securities (Malaysia) country head CEO Stephen Hagger had informed clients in a note of Jalil’s resignation.

“Jalil has resigned,” Hagger wrote in the lede of his note to clients today titled “Politics: Eaten by the sharks.”

Names such as Khazanah Nasional’s managing director Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn and Maybank group president and CEO Abdul Farid Alias have been bandied around as Jalil’s potential successors.

The Edge reported over the weekend that the issues surrounding the appointment of Jalil, 38, was cited as the reason for his departure.
