AFTER its own shortlisted logo designs flopped spectacularly yesterday, Pakatan Harapan is turning to the public for their creativity.

In a statement today, PH thanked everyone for their feedback on the designs uploaded by PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli on his Facebook page.

“After taking the views of the public into account and the opinions of PH leaders, PH Media welcomes logo designs from those interested,” the statement read.

The guidelines for the logo were also listed. The logo must have two colours, display an easily recognised and understood symbol, and reflect the concepts of hope, democracy, justice, integrity and unity.

The design must also look good small or big, whether the size of a badge or flag.

Those sending in their designs must submit a coloured version and another in black and white.

The logo should also be in “outlined vector” format and designed using Adobe Illustrator or a similar application.

Those interested can send queries and suggested designs to [email protected] starting today until Tuesday.

They must also provide their names, MyKad number and phone number.

The organiser reserves the right to use the accepted logo design – which will be submitted to the Registrar of Societies as PH’s symbol – and make amendments to the original design if necessary.

It was reported that the simple designs unveiled on Rafizi’s Facebook page yesterday failed to impress social media users.

The first logo had the word “harapan” (hope) in black on a red background and something that looked like the sun above the word. The second logo had the same design with a yellow background.

The third, which was red and white, showed a thumbs-up gesture with the name of the coalition at the bottom.

Nurul Fakhri, a Facebook user, wrote: “I am almost certain about supporting PH but I don’t support the logos. They are too backdated.”

Terry Gallyot commented: “For once I have to disagree with you… all the shortlisted designs look very amateurish.”

Many of those who gave their opinions told Rafizi to outsource the designing to the public, supporters or graphic designers interested to give the coalition some creative design help. – May 4, 2017.
