THE public has been reminded again to observe social distancing after visitors at the Zoo Negara were found to have ignored it.
Senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said police will be checking on the situation at Zoo Negara after visitors failed to comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) over the weekend.
Speaking to reporters in Putrajaya, he said he has contacted Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador on the matter.
“I saw pictures of people not following the SOPs as there was no social distancing at the zoo.
“I contacted the IGP and I was informed that police will be sending personnel to check on the zoo.”
Ismail Sabri said everyone must always adhere to the SOPs set by the government when in public places.
“This freedom is not absolute. We can withdraw it if the people fail to follow the SOPs.
“Please defend the freedom that is given to you and please adhere to the SOPs.”
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri has urged road users to be careful on the road as many families are travelling to and from their hometowns today.
He said traffic at major highways is smooth but number of vehicles are increasing.
“I am told that today many people will be heading back home as they are going to start working tomorrow. Please drive carefully and when stopping, follow the SOPs.”
