Health, safety guidelines for meetings, seminars next week

THE government will be announce on June 15 the new standard operating procedures for the conduct of meetings, seminars, workshops and training sessions that are permitted under the recovery movement control order, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

Speaking to reporters during a daily media briefing today in Putrajaya, the senior minister said the health and safety guidelines will be announced after the government has fine-tuned them

“We will allow meetings, seminars, workshops and training but we will come up with the SOPs next week.

“We are studying the SOPs and I will be announcing it next Monday,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ismail said 171 non-Muslim houses of worship are allowed to open but for a limited number of days per week.

“For example, churches, they will open only on Sunday.”

No more than 30 people are allowed in a congregation.

Last week, Ismail said the government has approved 170 temples and churches for marriage ceremonies.

Ismail said those whose applications to register their marriage were postponed by the movement restrictions could re-apply before July 31.

“If you have applied to register but was not able to do so because of the MCO, you can re-apply again before July 31 and there will be no fee,” he said last week. – June 12, 2020.
