Selangor MB's nephew remanded over illegal sand mining in Kajang

THE Selangor menteri besar’s nephew is among four who have been remanded for seven days to facilitate an investigation into illegal sand mining in Kajang.

Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission officers escorted the four to court in Putrajaya at 9.30am.

Magistrate Ainna Sherina Saipolamin granted the remand order.

The two company directors, a site manager and an advertising agency executive are under investigation for bribery.

The men were detained by MACC yesterday over their involvement in a sand-mining company that had allegedly bribed local government officers in Kajang in 2014.

The anti-graft agency has also frozen several accounts owned by the company, involving some RM4 million. – November 30, 2017.
