AT LEAST 700,000 people tried to register the MySejahtera app within a minute, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

People looking to redeem the RM50 e-wallet credit announced by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin under the national economic recovery plan (Penjana) will be required to download the MySejahtera app.

“(In) one minute (there were) 700,000 registrations.

“We advise people who want to download the application to perhaps leave a gap (of time). If we can have a gap, then perhaps there won’t be high traffic,” Noor Hisham said.

Earlier today, the ministry said in a Facebook post the registration for MySejahtera was experiencing heavy traffic and told those wanting to do so to try again later.

Noor Hisham also said the ministry will also look into expanding the service.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said earlier today that Malaysians will have to download the app to receive the RM50 e-wallet credit with an additional RM50 worth of discounts and cash back.

The money is expected to be credited to verified e-wallets from July.

Ismail Sabri said this was to encourage more Malaysians to download the MySejahtera app, which will help health authorities in its effort to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. – June 8, 2020.

  • It is expected that high traffic will occur. This is a nation of 32 million people not 32 people.
