Non-Muslim marriage allowed in 170 houses of worship

NON-MUSLIMS are allowed to wed in 170 houses of worship under the conditional movement control order (CMCO), said Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

“We have approved 170 houses of worship for non-Muslims if they plan to get married,” said the senior minister at a daily press conference on the Covid-19 response.

Ismail said those whose applications to register their marriage were postponed by the movement restrictions could re-apply before July 31.

“If you have applied to register but was not able to do so because of the MCO, you can re-apply again before July 31 and there will be no fee.

“JPN will come up with a standard operating procedure (SOP) for matters concerning marriage and divorce for non-Muslims,” he said, referring to the National registration Department.

Non-Muslim houses of worship were ordered to close as a virus containment measure, but it has been announced that 174 of them would be allowed to open from June 10. – June 7, 2020.
