Indonesia virus cases top 30,000


COVID-19 cases in Indonesia continue to rise, breaching the 30,000 mark after 993 new infections were recorded today.

Achmad Yurianto, the government’s spokesman on coronavirus matters, said in the 24 hours up to noon, 31 fatalities were registered, taking the death toll to 1,801.

Overall cases now stand at 30,514, he said.

“A total of 13,347 patients are under surveillance,” he told a daily press briefing on the virus carried live on YouTube.

East Java saw a drastic increase in infections with 286 fresh cases, as well as 17 deaths. – Bernama, June 6, 2020.
