ADMINISTRATIVE enhanced movement control orders (EMCO) are confirmed for Taman Langat Utama and Taman Langat Murni in Bukit Changgang, Kuala Langat effective last night, said senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the difference with an administrative EMCO is that residents in the affected areas are allowed to move in and out of their housing estate to get necessities.

“Those under an administrative EMCO area can still go out to buy food and daily essentials after doing health checks.

“The similarities with an EMCO is that the area will be surrounded by barbed wire and swab tests (for Covid-19) will be conducted on all residents,” he said at the daily briefing on Covid-19 security matters today.

In an EMCO area, resident will be completely barred from going out until the order is lifted.

Razor wire and fencing were erected around Taman Langat Utama and Taman Langat Murni last night, following the detection of more than 20 Covid-19 cases there among foreigners.

Previous EMCOs were imposed in Jalan Masjid India, Selangor Mansion, Malayan Mansion and Menara City One in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya Old Town and Hulu Langat (Selangor), and Simpang Renggam (Johor).

A nationwide MCO was imposed on March 18, and was replaced on May 4 with relaxed restrictions under the conditional MCO, which is due to expire on June 9.

Authorities, however, have said even after restrictions are lifted, they will continue to impose partial controls or lockdowns on specific areas where Covid-19 is detected to enable screening of all residents. – June 3, 2020.
