BARBED wire has gone up around several housing estates in Banting, Selangor, that were placed under the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) late yesterday.
According to reports, Taman Langat Utama and Taman Langat Murni in Bukit Changgang are under lockdown after more than 20 foreigners there tested positive for Covid-19.
“The authorities were ordered to set up (barbed wire) fences and barricades in two areas of Bukit Changgang,” said a Selangor police source, without revealing details of the operation.
“An official announcement will be made today by the minister in charge.”
Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob is expected to announce the matter in his daily press conference later today.
The EMCO was previously imposed on Jalan Masjid India, Selangor Mansion, Malayan Mansion and Menara City One in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya Old Town and Hulu Langat (Selangor), and Simpang Renggam (Johor).
The country was placed under the conditional MCO on May 4, and it is expected to be lifted on June 9.
Strict movement curbs were imposed on March 18 to stop the spread of the coronavirus, which has so far infected 7,877 people and killed 115. There were 1,292 active cases as of yesterday. – June 3, 2020.
